Eco Friendly Promtional Items

What does it mean to be eco-friendly?

The definition of eco-friendly is when something is not harmful to the environment. When we apply this to products, they are items that cause minimal environmental degradation, and their production is linked to a process that considers the impacts that can be caused to the environment throughout their life cycle.

Why is this product eco-friendly?

A product can be eco-friendly for a number of reasons. It could be the way it is made, how it is made, but more often than not, it’s what the product is made from. To help you, here are some of the most popular eco-friendly materials that merchandise can be made from:

Wheat Straw

Wheat straw is mainly an agricultural waste product that remains after grain or juice is extracted from crops. It is a valuable environmentally friendly resource that, while upgrading the outlook of many reusable products, helps to reduce the number of plastics used while reusing natural sources.

Bamboo

Bamboo is one of the fastest-growing plants (grass) and it can replenish itself within a year with minimum water and without the need for fertilisers to boost its growth. Meaning it is a very renewable resource that is also strong, durable and biodegradable.

RPET

RPET is created from recycled plastic. This plastic is also very sustainable, as it can be 100% completely recycled: bottle, label, and cap. This means that RPET has a lower carbon footprint than Virgin PET bottles, and it takes less energy to recycle and create an RPET bottle than to manufacture a Virgin PET one.

How will my customers know that the product is eco-friendly?

This is a question that we get asked frequently here at LSi, and there are two ways to do this. The first is to get a product that looks eco-friendly and is made from a material such as bamboo or wheat straw. As when the customer receives this, they will automatically be able to tell. However, just because a product looks eco-friendly doesn’t necessarily mean that it is the most eco-friendly option.

Another way to promote that an item is eco-friendly is to print the product's story on the item. For example, our Recycled Americano, to look at it, you wouldn’t think it was any different from any other mug, however, the item is made from 100% recycled plastic. So, you can print this on the mug so that everyone who receives it understands the message behind it.

Are eco-friendly products more expensive?

The simple answer to this is yes. Creating an eco-friendly product is itself more expensive, but we also want to provide certification for the products, so that you can be assured of what the product is, how it is made from and where it comes from. So, if you are looking for an eco-friendly product, please be prepared to pay more.

Why are re-useable products eco-friendly?

If an item is re-usable, it is reducing the number of one-use products that end up in a landfill. For example, if we look at water bottles, a reusable bottle is a lot better for the environment than a single-use bottle. As you will save on waste that can take hundreds of years to decompose, making the reusable option more eco-friendly.

If a product biodegrades, how long does it take?

This just depends on the product and what it is made from. In most instances, our eco-friendly products that been through extensive testing and we will be able to answer this question for you on individual products.

What is the product's carbon footprint?

A carbon footprint is the amount of carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere as a result of activities. So, when we look at a product, it is the amount of carbon dioxide that is released during the making and shipping of the product. Therefore, a product made in the UK will have a lower carbon footprint than one created in China.
